The advantages
Carbonautica fiberglass composite steering wheels have one major advantage over the stainless steel steering wheels found on all production boats:
A complete range: diameter 700 to 1700 depending on the model
The weight is 2 to 3 times less than a stainless steel wheel helm, which means less inertia of the helm system when the autopilot is in use, especially since all production boats today have 2 helms!
Carbon performance at a fraction of the cost!
Carbonautica fiberglass steering wheels are manufactured in the same way as carbon steering wheels, in a single piece without bonding, giving a highly resistant monocoque structure. The anodized aluminum hub is integrated into the mold, which is painted before fitting, so that the wheel leaves the mold finished.
The difference is that the Carbonautica fiberglass composite steering wheel is much less expensive than the carbon version.
Our GFC (Glass Fiber Composite) wheel bars are manufactured using our new injection process, and the integrated hubs are compatible with most steering systems on the market (Jefa, Lewmar, Edson, Goiot).
We can produce a custom wheel to your exact specifications!
The notion of inertia is very important: depending on the sea conditions, the pilot will operate in fits and starts, and will therefore be affected by the inertia of the helm system. The lighter the helm, the less fatigue the pilot will experience.
A much better, more comfortable grip thanks to the shape and larger cross-section of the bar.
Excellent grip, no need for leather for a pleasant feel
No oxidation, no maintenance
Choice of helm color to match that of the boat.
